How To Become 'BODY AWARE'...

Hello, kiwi yogi here...

So growing up in a small town in New Zealand, we were told to 'sit up straight', 'eat our veggies' and 'look after our things'. I remember at primary school (and I loved primarily school!), If you were 'too proud' then you would be bullied, if you were 'too shy' you were hassled and if you were 'too skinny, short, fat, hairy, tall, ugly'... you guessed it.. someone else was sure to 'inform' you about this... Like they were invincible and perfect in their own right...

Now as an adult I understand the basic mechanics of school yard bullying, but I have only really started to learn my 'own' personal journey of how this has affected my life along the way....

I have forward-head syndrome (trying not to have a double chin like some others in my family) resulting in rock-solid (not in a good way) shoulders & neck muscles, huge winged shoulder blades & weak rhomboids (after being told I am so skinny - you can see my ribs! - so I thought that would 'make my back bigger' huh??), weak biceps and aggravated wrist joints due to weak upper back, oh...& I jut out my lower ribs to make my teeny boobs that wee bit bigger (which only extenuates my winged shoulder blades even more!), My hips are out of alignment (I sat with my legs crossed because my legs were so skinny you could see up my skirt!) my glutes are bit lazy and my legs tend to do the work (thus being overworked and tight), shall I go on?....

my point is, learn to LOVE YOURSELF!    Start now!

Our amazing bodies are constantly 'working within', fighting free radicals, healing bumps & bruises, strengthening muscles , storing nutrients, building immunity - and what do we? ('we' being mainly the mind) , we add more stresses through poor food choices, extreme activity, trials of drugs, alcohol and fear of rejection!   I 'tried' to avoid being me because of my fear of rejection and what others said, & trying to 'fit in'... and 33 years in - I am DONE! I am taking back the power, squashing the fears I manifested within my own mind and have begun to accept myself and my body - just the way it is!

With the help of many amazing Friends, Family, Physio's, Chiro's, Massage therapists, Personal Trainers  and even strangers! - I am constantly building my knowledge, to really listen to my body and 'hear' what it is telling me right now (and how my past experiences may have influenced my ailments). So by surrounding myself with persons of knowledge, by opening myself to learning about the physical and emotional body, I begin to learn how my body CAN BE with alignment and without pain, without comparison!

Mother Earth provides us with an abundance of natural support to protect and boost our immune system, she gives us beautiful places to come to the present and show us her beauty which is ever-changing and magical! Just like us. We are ever-changing and , yes, we are vulnerable.... But trust in yourself so that you can feel your own natural alignment....

Our bodies are beautifully designed to guide us on our wonderful journey of life - It is YOUR job to be aware, to listen to your instinct, to not be swayed by outside opinions and to find time daily to ground yourself and find gratitude in all areas of your life.

A daily mantra is a great way to help boost your own self-esteem, regular exercise of Walking or Yoga or a Weights session with experienced Personal Trainer and making time to create 'space' of thoughts within your mind will build a strong and open mind, that will lead to a strong and responsive body.

Be the best YOU, Start from the inside.... xx
